6 Month Beauty Prep Plan for Mother of the Bride or Groom

A Prep Guide for the Mother of the Bride (to look your best for the upcoming wedding!)

It’s an exciting time. Your daughter (or son) is getting married! Not only is there a lot to do to plan the wedding, rehearsal, and more, but you also want to make a game plan to ensure you look your best when the big day comes. All eyes will be on the bride, but also on you. Below is a pre-wedding plan to help you look and feel your best, so you can show up and be there for your daughter’s (or son’s) big day with confidence.

6 MONTHS PRIOR – LIFT WITH ULTHERAPY

Ultherapy is an FDA-approved, non-invasive, no downtime required treatment to lift the brow, chin, and neck, as well as smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the chest. The treatment works by using ultrasound energy at a deep level, bypassing the surface of the skin. This energy jumpstarts the process to regenerate and produce collagen. Patients see immediate results, with maximum results appearing two to three months after treatment.

Because it can take some time to see maximum results, it’s good to do this treatment at least six months before the wedding. This will give you time to get fillers and other treatments to touch-up and achieve additional results desired after you see the results of Ultherapy.

4 MONTHS PRIOR – GET THE GLOW WITH A FACIAL REGIMEN

Facials are a great way to minimize skin imperfections and get your “look at me” glow on! To clarify, refine, and hydrate the skin, we use the Intraceuticals Oxygen Infusion Treatments, a favorite among the celebrities! Typically, a series of six Intraceuticals is recommended to plump up moisture and skin volume. Chemical peels are a more advanced facial treatment to improve skin texture and tone. At Gerrish & Associates, we offer three different levels of  SkinMedica Peels, A combination of facials  and peels may be used depending on your treatment needs.

Because a series of facials works best, it’s good to begin this treatment step about four months before the wedding. This will allow you to schedule three to five treatments before the big day. Also, you don’t want to get a facial too close to the wedding, because facials can sometimes make your skin look worse before it looks better depending on the type of treatment you received. Your last facial before the wedding should be about a week prior, so your “glow” is at its peak for the wedding.

2 MONTHS PRIOR – TOUCH-UP AND TURN BACK THE HANDS OF TIME WITH DERMAL FILLERS AND BOTOX

Dermal fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane are great to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and fill in areas around the nasolabial folds and around the mouth, as well as give your face a bit more lift.

After your Ultherapy results, you can decide what additional lift or touch-up you might desire by using fillers. Also, you can bypass Ultherapy if you and your doctor choose to do so, and go straight to fillers instead. Results vary depending on the type of filler used.

Botox is also a great option at this time to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on your forehead and around your eyes!

3 WEEKS PRIOR – HAIR AND MAKE-UP DRESS REHEARSAL

The day is getting closer! About three weeks before the wedding, you want to have an appointment on the books to get your hair cut or trimmed, and also have the dress rehearsal for how your make-up and hair will look for the big day. Bellini Beauty has great hair stylists waiting to help.

1 WEEK PRIOR – FINISHING TOUCHES & DE-STRESS

Within a week, your daughter (or son) will be married! With so much going on to plan for the event, now’s a good time to de-stress a bit by treating you and your soon-to-be-married child to a nice massage or mini-spa day about a week before the wedding. It’s also a good time to have your eyebrows and facial hair waxed, as needed.

A few days before the wedding, you’ll want to have your nails done, as well. You don’t want to do it too far in advance, in case they chip, and you don’t want to do it too close to the wedding, in case you run out of time. Three days before the wedding is ideal. Bellini Beauty mentioned above has massage, nail, and other spa services for a one-stop-shop resource to help you look and feel great the day of the wedding.

Finally, the day is here, and you know you look fantastic! Not only do you look great, but you feel great knowing you’ve raised your child to be the person he or she is today, and they’ve met someone to spend their life with.
