The final results of the PDO thread lift will vary from patient to patient but will most commonly appear within one to three months.
Treatment results, such as skin lifting and some of the contouring effects, are visible immediately after treatment. Effects of collagen stimulation are usually seen within 2-3 months.
How long the PDO threads last depends on several factors, which include threads’ thickness, the brand integrity and quality of the threads and your body’s rate of metabolism. Most of our patients find that the threads have dissolved within six to nine months, but the collagen and elastin stimulation continues beyond that.
Because a PDO thread lift is so versatile, we can treat virtually any area of the face and body. The cheeks and the lower face/neck region are the most commonly treated. All areas include:
- Nasolabial folds
- Crow’s feet
- Under-eye area
- Marionette lines
Absolutely. And that is our specialty at Gerrish MedEsthetics. Our experts will design an ideal procedure plan just for you. For instance, smooth threads are ideal for stimulating collagen. Thicker barbed threads are used to lift the brows or sagging skin of the lower face and neck.
This treatment is FDA cleared and completely safe. Moreover, hundreds of thousands of treatments have been performed, and there are no reports of allergic reactions, sensitivities to the threads, or serious side effects or risks.
No, the threads will gradually dissolve in the body over six months stimulating collagen production. The threads work to return some of the skin’s elasticity, resulting in a reduction in sagging, lines, and wrinkles.
There are several types of PDO threads, and each serves its unique purpose. Barbed threads are utilized for lifting while smooth threads are utilized to stimulate collagen. There are also specialized threads for specific areas, such as under the eyes or along the lip border. Depending on your aesthetic goals, your Gerrish MedEsthetic PDO provider may use one or many thread types during your anti-aging treatment.
Once the anesthetic has taken effect, your treatment will begin. The PDO threads are inserted via blunt tip needles, called cannulas. Once placed into the appropriate layer they act as anchors as the skin is lifted upwards. Then, the excess threads are cut off. Smooth threads are inserted via a very fine needle. The needles are inserted just under the skin. The needle is withdrawn, leaving behind the thread.
Before treatment starts, we will apply a local anesthetic to the treatment site. After that, you should only feel pressure during the treatment and very little discomfort.
