How long the PDO threads last depends on several factors, which include threads’ thickness, the brand integrity and quality of the threads and your body’s rate of metabolism. There are several types of PDO threads, and each serves its unique purpose.  Barbed threads are utilized for lifting while smooth threads are utilized to stimulate collagen.  There are also specialized threads for specific areas, such as under the eyes or along the lip border. Depending on your aesthetic goals, your Gerrish MedEsthetic PDO provider may use one or many thread types during your anti-aging treatment.

Once the anesthetic has taken effect, your treatment will begin. The PDO threads are inserted via blunt tip needles, called cannulas. Once placed into the appropriate layer they act as anchors as the skin is lifted upwards. Then, the excess threads are cut off.  Smooth threads are inserted via a very fine needle. The needles are inserted just under the skin. The needle is withdrawn, leaving behind the thread.

Before treatment starts, we will apply a local anesthetic to the treatment site.  After that, you should only feel pressure during the treatment and very little discomfort.
